Her life

Born in Germany, this designer founded the TAMARA COMOLLI^® Fine Jewelry Collection in 1992. Her first flagship store was opened in the Hamptons, USA, followed by two stores in Germany and Palm Beach, Florida. Her latest store recently opened in Munich, Germany. In 2004 she was the winner of the De Beers Award for Design.

Her hallmark: The drop

The brand’s water droplet symbol conveys the designer’s personality. She grew up near the beach and a lake. Therefore water became a significant symbol throughout her life. She instils her work with echoes of the ocean, that feeling of vacation on a beach or near water. That is why the drop became the symbol of her brand. It appears in several of her designs and has become one of her jewellery brand’s signature styles.

The acorn and an undying passion for gemstones

Tamara Comolli stated, “Gemstones with their scintillating colours and shapes have fascinated me since my childhood, to the point that this passion today is almost ruinous as I hold onto one-of-a-kind gems for a long time and release them only for my famous Collectables.” Her undying love of gemstones is evident in the delicate, feminine pieces featured in the Mikado Collection. Some of her clients obsessively collect these acorn-shaped pendants. Tourmaline crystals and sapphires, Tamara Comolli’s favourite materials, are featured in this collection.

Her interpretation of jewelry

When Tamara Comolli set out to start her brand thirty years ago, she wanted to create something extraordinary that would redefine jewellery by letting go of the striking, uniform pieces whose sole justification for existing was to be branded or expensive. Soul and meaning needed to be added to that old equation. Tamara Comolli wanted to defy this ideology by creating a new, casual brand that offered its clientele easy-to-wear pieces whose versatility allowed for personal style. Their effortless, timeless quality allowed her clientele to build their collections gradually. A client could easily create a fresh look by pairing their first pieces, acquired years ago, with the brand’s recent creations.

Color Stories

Combinations of different gemstones can awaken similar feelings in jewellery lovers. The Color Stories represent a unique element in Tamara Comolli’s collections. Over the years, the designer’s famous combinations of gems have been given various names: Candy, Caribbean, Indian Summer, Rainforest, Cashmere, Mandarin and Cinnamon. Clients can select from different varieties of gemstones and pair them with their favourite designs, which can be set in pink, yellow or white gold.

Tamara Comolli wants jewellery to be fun on every occasion! It should never be intimidating or dull but playful and understated. The designer has been known to wear a diamond pendant on a thin leather string or a stack of bracelets; she wants to look youthful and energetic when wearing her jewellery. Her ultimate goal is for her clients to feel the same way!
